I became a lawyer for one simple reason.
I love the law.
My unique career has afforded me the opportunity to be both lawyer and client. My extensive time spent in-house for various publicly traded companies required interaction with opposing in-house counsel as well as a thorough understanding of the hiring, audit and dismissal of supplemental law firms acting as outside counsel representing the companies that employed me. This hybrid experience taught me the practical meaning of legal value. Lawyers, like any other professional, must earn their fees and account for them. It has become all to common for legal professionals to hide behind vague language and exploit client inexperience. This behavior does not serve the clients best interest. I consider myself to be a student of the law as well as a practitioner. My experience spans many diverse areas of practice and includes a wide range of clients, both institutional and individual. The specifics of each case and the needs of every client can vastly differ, yet one thing remains the same.
There is always a solution. The law exists for those who need solutions.
I understand that transactions, negotiations, and litigation are easier when you know your lawyer is on your side. Life is full of variables and uncertainties. The legal process is no different. Consistent communication and planning goes a long way towards helping clients identify what those variables may be as we attempt to achieve success and closure. Nothing pleases me more than the process of helping my clients find clarity and resolution. Lawyer/Client collaboration is the cornerstone of my practice. Together, we can develop and execute a plan tailored to meet your individual needs.
At The Law Office Of Shawn Shearer, my goal is to provide each client with the following three tier experience.
I will always do my best to listen to your needs in their entirety. From your perspective. In your timeframe. Often, clients understand nuances of their own cases and have important insights into the development of successful collaborative strategies. I am interested in your opinion of your own case.
I will do my best to create an environment where winning is possible, yet we, as a team, will strive to maintain the highest possible ethical standards in our pursuit of justice. There should never be a reason to have to choose between honesty and a favorable outcome. The law exists both for your protection, and as a possible tool for recovery. It is my job to listen to you and help you decide how the law can work for you. This goal should never conflict with our integrity as a team. Handling problems ethically from the outset is the not only the honorable thing to do, it also reduces the chances for appeal, and thus the possibility of forfeited time, costs and added pressure.
Money is a factor for every client. My goal is to utilize my more than twenty-five years of experience to provide top notch representation without needless time wasting. I want to know your budget, your anticipated outcome, as well as any financial information you feel comfortable sharing with me, so that we can work towards a result that is realistic and satisfying for both of us. I want us to work together, combining our best efforts and utilizing all available, relevant resources in the most efficient way possible.
No lawyer can guarantee an outcome. But I can promise to do my best to guide our team towards a legally viable, emotionally comforting, and reasonable solution.
